Did you know that a child’s first visit to the dentist should occur around twelve months of age? At Thompson & Frey in Owensboro KY, our family dentistry sees plenty of the little ones, and they’re some of our favorite patients.
Many parents are surprised their kids should see a dentist so young. So we’re going to review three reasons why your toddler’s teeth are worth a dental visit. (There are more, but these are the biggies.)
- Twelve months of age is about the time when a child’s first teeth come in. Once they do, it’s time to get them looked at by a professional.
- Young teeth should be treated with fluoride to make them strong, and help prevent cavities.
- Visiting the dentist at a young age is a great way to help your child get used to the dentist’s office. They’ll be more comfortable with the dentist as they grow older.
If your child is apprehensive about visiting the dentist, you might want to bring them for a short tour of our office beforehand. They can meet our friendly staff and learn what to expect when they come in for their exam.
